Many people would say that few things add more beauty to an attractive home than a well built koi pond. The surging popularity of koi ponds today is do to the fact that they add not just beauty to your landscape but also a sense of peace & calmness. The sight of brightly colored koi & goldfish gracefully swimming in crystal clear water combined with the soothing sound of a waterfall is hard to forget.
The biggest problem we see is that most home owners and contractors do not seem to understand that building a successful koi pond is much more complicated than they realize. Many people start out thinking that to build a koi pond all that they need to do is dig a hole in the ground that will hold water for the koi to live in through in some rock’s and a waterfall filter and call it a day!
The reality is that unless your Koi pond is well thought out and properly designed the whole experience can be a real disappointment. Your pond filter, pump, UV filter & bottom drain all have to be sized perfectly In order for your pond to function properly! Your backyard pond also needs to be excavated correctly to insure that fish waste is constantly being removed by your bottom drain and your fish are protected from predators. All of these combined factors work in harmony insuring your pond stays crystal clean and healthy. At PondCare Plus, we strive to always improve and get better at what we do. Put our experience to work for you. Contact us today for an estimate. You will be amazed at what can be done with a Koi pond!
Once per year in the spring you will need to do a full clean out of your pond due to the fact that your pond has been sitting dormant all winter long with no filtration and will need a good cleaning to get it kick started again for the new season.
We have maintenance plans for Spring Cleaning, Weekly Maintenance, Winterizing and More!
We charge based on the size of your pond. Prices range from $250.00 to $800.00 for a spring clean out. This is a very fair price considering if you were to do the work yourself you would need to purchase or rent the proper equipment to do the job. Such as a power washer, holding tub, submersible pump, plumbing line, and a mini aeration system to keep your fish alive while you are cleaning out your pond! This type of work is also labor intensive and messy. If you would like us to give you a price on the phone to clean out your koi pond or water garden just give us a call at the number at the top of the page. We strive to build long term relationships with our clients based on trust and dependability! Contact us today!
There is no limit to the many ways pondscaping can be used to enhance your pond or water garden. When the right ideas are implemented pollinators such as butterflies and bees will be attracted to your pond, as well as frogs and birds. It is first necessary to decide what style you want. Are you looking for a pond that is above ground or in ground? Do you prefer your pond formal or naturalized? What types of plants or fish will be present? The decisions you make will determine the best pondscaping approach.
We help fit the best plants that will mesh perfectly with your ponds environment. Very rarely do you see in nature an edge or a clear demarcation between two different environments. There is a gradual transition where one environment mingles with another. Softening and blurring the water’s edge and gradually extending plant materials into the larger landscape helps create a soothing, uniform pondscape reminiscent of nature.
We have Koi and Goldfish in display tanks at our facility in Sandersville, GA. You are able to view the fish, and if you find one or ten that you like, we will carefully net it out and package it up for you to take home. We put the fish in large plastic bags with oxygen, so they will be fine for multi-hour car rides. Ideally, you should bring a tub with you to put the bag in for the trip home. Rubbermaid tote tubs work great. The largest bags are about 2 feet long by 18 inches wide when full, and weigh up to 20 to 25 pounds. If you don’t have an appropriately sized tub, we can box up the bag for a small fee.
